There was a little girl who once loved to play with mermaids and Barbies. She also loved to make jewelry. She had a little set of beads that she used with her little hands to make pretty little things that had a sparkle to them. But no one noticed her sparkle.
She wore all the necklaces and all the bracelets, with a ring on every finger; she danced in her mothers' shoes that were 7 sizes too large for her and threw the sheets around her waist like a ballgown. She dreamt of fashion and she loved anything that had a shine to it. She drew dresses and skirts and flowing scarves in her sketching books. She taught herself how to sew. How to paint. How to work with clay. How to braid by hand. How to crochet and knit. All in the name of fashion.
When she was a bit older, she wore outlandish fashions. People began to notice her sparkle then. But the more that they did, the less she saw it. She lost her way in life and then her sparkle dimmed. It became so faint, others could no longer see it. She became invisible again.
Then a tiny light floated down into the depths. It reached her and she remembered a sliver of who she once was. She followed the glow until it led her to a beautiful place of self-discovery. Solitary but healing, it was an undersea cave full of wonder. There, she found her soul resting. Waiting for her to come home. Waiting for her to step into her true being.
Salty Mermaid Gems was born that day. It is so much more than a jewelry brand. It is my life. What I live to do and succeed at in order to make my inner child happy with me and what we've done. This is my third attempt at starting a jewelry brand. I have been trying to find my way for over 17 years while I learn and grow my skills.
Until now, I have never had a clear vision for my jewelry brand. What I was lacking was a clear vision of myself. I am a mermaid and I live in the desert. It's as simple as that. My biggest inspirations are the oceans, beaches, and luxury living. Seeing the beauty in things. And though my creations reflect the ocean, they are coming from a desert wonderland. You have stumbled across a unique artist doing something special in my little studio amongst the cliffs.
This is my very first website and I am so excited and happy to finally share it with the world. My focus here is to create innovative yet classical and timeless designs. Jewelry that transcends silly internet trends. I want my jewelry to transcend time; to rise above "fast fashion".
I also love to bring clients' visions become a reality. Custom work brings me so much joy. There is nothing more meaningful to me than creating a piece of jewelry that will be worn during a special life event. It is meaningful to me because that piece will always hold sentimental value for you. Money cannot buy that experience. That feeling.
